AMD Q3 Earnings Tonight: Helios, MI450 and What to Watch

AMD Q3 Earnings

AMD Q3 earnings arrive tonight after the US market closes, and the number that will move the stock is next quarter’s guidance, not this quarter’s revenue. This AMD Q3 earnings preview covers what Wall Street expects, why the Helios rack matters and what AMD must say about Q4. Results are not included yet.

When are the AMD Q3 earnings?

AMD reports Q3 2026 results after the US market close on Tuesday 3 November, with a conference call at 5:00 p.m. ET, according to TradingKey. Indian readers will see the numbers on Wednesday morning. Every figure below comes from previews published on 2 November or earlier, and AMD’s own release replaces all of them once it is out.

Data Center revenueAbout $8.3 billiontastylive
Q4 revenue and EPS (consensus)About $16.29 billion and $2.68tastylive

One warning on EPS: figures differ by basis. Hudson Labs listed consensus GAAP EPS of $1.42 in an October preview, while tastylive and TradingKey cite adjusted EPS near $1.95. Compare like with like when the release arrives. See Hudson Labs for the GAAP view.

One computed point: the $13.09 billion consensus is only about 0.7% above the $13 billion guidance midpoint, so a small beat is expected. The Q4 consensus is the harder test. Going from $13.09 billion to $16.29 billion is 24% sequential growth, almost double the 13% growth analysts expect for Q3.

Why AMD Helios and MI450 matter

AMD Helios is a full AI rack that bundles Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, networking and software, instead of selling chips one at a time, according to TradingKey. It is AMD’s most direct attempt to compete with Nvidia at rack level. The AMD MI450 is the Instinct GPU generation inside it.

  • Meta: an agreement for up to 6 gigawatts of Instinct GPUs, announced in February. On 27 October AMD said Helios is running and being tested at Meta.
  • Anthropic: a Q2 agreement to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of MI450 GPUs in Helios racks. Anthropic is also the subject of our Anthropic IPO explainer.
  • Microsoft: an expanded deal to deploy Helios and 6th-generation EPYC across Azure.

For the AMD Q3 earnings, Data Center is the engine. It earned $6.7 billion in Q2, up 107%, and made up about 58% of sales, with $2.1 billion of operating income, per tastylive.

Why AMD stock fell before the AMD Q3 earnings

AMD fell 10.88% on 30 October to $504.80 after Intel’s weak outlook hit the whole sector, as explained in our chip stocks selloff guide. That leaves it about 23% under its 52-week high of $658.52, and the market value near $824 billion, down from $1 trillion in September.

Options were pricing a move of roughly 9% after the report, according to tastylive. AMD’s average earnings-day move across its last 39 reports is about 10.6%. It has also beaten EPS estimates four quarters in a row while often trading flat or lower afterwards, so a beat alone does not guarantee a rally.

What to watch in the AMD Q3 earnings report

  1. AMD Q4 guidance: does it reach or beat roughly $16.3 billion?
  2. Data Center revenue: above or below the $8.3 billion estimate.
  3. Gross margin: can AMD hold about 56% as rack-scale systems, memory and packaging costs rise? Non-GAAP operating expenses rose 40% in Q2.
  4. Helios shipment timing: any slip in the ramp would worry customers and investors.
  5. PC and gaming: gaming fell 31% in Q2, and Intel warned about PC demand.

What the AMD Q3 earnings mean for readers in India

Most Indian readers do not trade AMD. But the AMD Q3 earnings matter because AMD’s MI450 and Helios orders show how much money AI labs are committing to computing power outside Nvidia. That affects cloud prices, AI tool pricing and the hardware choices open to startups. This is news, not advice. Askhari is not a financial adviser.

What we don’t know yet

  • Actual Q3 revenue, EPS and gross margin (due after the close).
  • The Q4 guide.
  • How the stock reacts in after-hours trading.
  • When Helios revenue starts in volume.

Hari’s take

The AMD Q3 earnings headline will probably be fine, because the bar is only 0.7% above guidance. The story is Q4. A 24% sequential jump needs Helios to start shipping on time, and the stock has already shown it hates uncertainty.
